Mountain Ridge Sentinels Varsity Claims Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Lehi
The Sentinels snatched the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Lehi on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with the Sentinels batting in the bottom of the sixth when Mylee Milne doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Despite falling down by five runs in the first inning, Lehi tried to fight back. Lehi scored six runs in the failed comeback.
The Sentinels got things moving in the first inning, when Taegan Smith homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.
Ashlyn Webb was the winning pitcher for the Sentinels. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs while striking out one and walking one.
Humes took the loss for Lehi. The hurler went six innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits and striking out one.
The Sentinels smacked one home run on the day with Smith’s long ball in the first inning.
The Sentinels totaled nine hits. Kiley Avery and Smith each managed multiple hits for the Sentinels. Avery led the Sentinels with three hits in four at bats.
The Sentinels are now 14-1 on the season.
