4-Hit Day For Smith Earns Mountain Ridge Sentinels Varsity Victory Over Timpanogos
Four hits from Taegan Smith helped lead the way for the Sentinels over Timpanogos 18-5 on Wednesday. Smith doubled in the first, singled in the second, homered in the third, and singled in the fifth.
The Sentinels earned the victory despite allowing Timpanogos to score three runs in the third inning. Timpanogos offense in the inning was led by Sondrup and Mills, all knocking in runs in the inning.
The Sentinels opened up scoring in the first inning when Tessa Hokanson homered scoring two.
The Sentinels tallied five runs in the third inning. Kiley Avery, Hokanson and Smith each had RBIs in the frame.
Ashlyn Webb was the winning pitcher for the Sentinels. The right hander allowed nine hits and five runs over five innings.
Hicken took the loss for Timpanogos lasting five innings, allowing 14 hits and 18 runs while striking out four.
The Sentinels smacked three home runs on the day. Hokanson had a homer in the first inning. Mylee Milne had a long ball in the first inning. Smith had a dinger in the third inning.
The Sentinels totaled 14 hits. Smith, Tasha Hokanson, Avery, and Milne each had multiple hits for the Sentinels. Smith led the Sentinels with four hits in four at bats. Avery led the Sentinels with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
The Sentinels are now 13-1 on the season with a home game against Lehi tomorrow, Thursday April 29th at 3:30 pm.
